The New Year Is Nearly Here! Registration For the 43^rd Annual Air Race Classic Opens on January 2, 2019!

Can you believe that we are closing out 2018? And what follows New Year's Day? ARC Registration opens for the 2019 Air Race Classic!

If you are thinking about racing, then it's time to collect your pilot and airplane information. If you don't yet have a team (pilot, copilot) finalized, it's still free to start the RACER registration process. the registration fee is not taken until you complete the TEAM registration section. Race numbers are assigned based on when you register - first come, first served - unless you have purchased an available reserve number. CLICK HERE to learn more about purchasing a race number.

In February, ARC hosts a free drawing for Race numbers 1-10 for all teams that have registered by Jan 31st. So get registered soon to be among the first planes taxiing out to race in June. After the first 10 race numbers are assigned in February, then the available race numbers are assigned based on when you completed your TEAM registration.

Important Planning Dates

• Jan 2 (noon, EST) – Racer Registration opens
• Mar 31 (11:59 pm, EST) – Racer Registration closes
• Apr 30 (11:59 pm EDT) – Airplane registration closes
• Jun 15 (noon, CDT) – Racer arrival at the Start
• Jun 18 (8:00 am CDT) to 21 (5:00 pm EDT) – race dates

Flying In Canada

ARC has published its first web page to provide details on PREPARING TO FLY IN CANADA..Some of you may have already flown in Canada, but many have not. I flew the first time to Canada in 2016 for the 99s International Conference in Ottawa. It was not difficult to do, but I did need to put some pieces in place ahead of time. This page provides a wealth of information and links for you to start planning.

VFR flying in Canada is not so different from VFR flying in the U.S., but there are some differences that you will learn more about as you prepare for this great adventure and opportunity to fly internationally. And if you have quesstions, visit the ARC Racers Blog and ask them. Also, stay tuned for details on an ARC Flying Canada webinar to be scheduled in Spring 2019.

It Takes A Village - Well Actually, 11 Villages

The  2019 ARC route travels from Jackson TN (Start) to Welland ON (Terminus) via 9 En Route Stops in the U.S. and Canada - 11 cities over 2500+ statute miles in 4 days! We are looking for a village of Volunteers at each of our 11 airports and cities hosting the race in 2019.

Can't race, but would like to be involved? Do you live near the Start, an En Route Stop, or the Terminus? How about volunteering at one of these airports along the route? Each location will need people to help with hospitality, provide transportation, time the Racers, and organize activities. Come out to watch the racers on their high-speed flybys and help out at the Stops and welcome the Racers on the ground. It's a great way to learn about your local airports and to bring together your local aviation enthusiasts

And Stops compete for the Best Stop Award, as voted by the Racers. All this takes time, energy, and the creative enthusiasm of many volunteers who are the backbone of the Air Race Classic.
