If you are planning to fly to Canada to help out at a Stop or to celebrate at the Terminus, ARC encourages you to apply for your U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs & Border Protection decal TODAY!

Following the government shutdown, there has been a delay in delivery on the required CBP decals - up to 12 weeks. So please get your orders in ASAP. For details, visit the FLYING IN CANADA page on the ARC website.

Get Your FCC Radio Station License and Restricted Radio Operator's License

Again, if you are flying into Canada for this year's race, be sure that you get these two items.

The FCC Radio Station License is linked to your airplane, and the owner needs to have a Radio Station License. If you own your plane, you need to take care of this. If you are flying someone else's plane, then you need to work with the owner to be sure that a Radio Station License is obtained. If this is a one-time only trip to Canada, racers may contact ARC for information on obtaining a Special Temporary Authorization (STA) to request a fee waiver on the cost of this license.

The pilot must carry an FCC Restricted Radio Operator's License (RR). This is a one-time only purchase and the license is good for life.

Both of these items can be obtained online, and you simply print the documentation off from the FCC web site. See the FLYING IN CANADA page for more details.

Handicap Flights - Volunteers &Training

It takes many volunteers to complete the ARC handicap process, and we appreciate your willingness to help. If you are interested in helping, please contact hcppilots@airraceclassic.org. If you have previously served as a handicap pilot, the invitation to update your Handicap Pilot Profile will arrive in your email shortly. Please follow the instructions in the email to update your profile on your ARC account as soon as possible. We can then start matching you with Race Teams.

Handicap training is mandatory for Race Team PICs and Handicap Pilots. You must attend one of the handicap briefings before flying a handicap flight. All Race Team members are welcome to attend. These briefings will occur in April - plan to attend one of the sessions. For details, visit the Handicaping web page

Preparing to fly in Canada is more than just crossing the border. There are a few diffierences that you can start becoming familiar with now. The Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) require that the PIC know the general differences between the CARs and U.S. Federal Aviation Regulation (FARs), but a comprehensive list of those differences is not available.
