Preserve Women's Air Racing!
Help us preserve the legacy of pioneering women in aviation by encouraging and educating current and future women pilots, increasing public awareness of general aviation, demonstrating women's roles in aviation, and promoting the tradition of women's air racing!
Announcing the Air Race Classic Derby of 2021
The Air Race Classic is announcing that it will run the first Derby in its history. Because of the pandemic and uncertainty for health of all involved, the Air Race Classic will modify its annual race into a one day Derby format retaining many of the ARC traditions and its mission of education. The event will be a flying proficiency event that will highlight ARC basics: all women participation, VFR flight with multiple legs, leg timing at designated points, and awards, but participants have choice of the route, aircraft, team composition, and day to fly. Key elements:
- Derby event will be between June 12 and June 26, 2021; awards on June 27, 2021
- Team chooses which day to fly
- Team designs the route within designated parameters; no country restrictions
- Team chooses aircraft; all types and categories are welcome (yes, helicopters, too!)
- Pilot flight minimums are Private Pilot with 100 hours PIC; copilot may be student pilot
Registration details and ARC Derby rules will be posted soon on airraceclassic.org and in future eFlyby newsletters and ARC social media. Stay tuned!
