The Mid-Columbia Chapter of the Ninety-Nines is elated to be hosting the Start of the 37th Annual Air Race Classic. We welcome you to the beautiful Northwest and the Tri-Cities.
TRI-CITIES INFORMATION
The Tri-Cities consists of three main cities—Pasco, Kennewick, and Richland. All are within a very short distance of each other and unless you have lived here a while, it can be difficult knowing when you have left one city and entered another.
Unlike the Seattle and Western Washington area, Eastern Washington, separated from the west side by the Cascade Mountains is a desert or shrub steppe area which experiences 6-7 inches of rain a year. In June, it can be warm or it can be rainy, but no matter what, you can probably count on it being windy. Temperatures in June can range from the 70s to 90s in the daytime and 40s to 50s at night.
HOTEL:
We are honored to be partnering with the Kennewick Red Lion Hotel in Kennewick, WA, located at 1101 N. Columbia Center Boulevard. The hotel has provided a special rate of $109.95 for singles and doubles; $119.95 for triples; and $129.95 for the quad rate. For reservations, you may call the hotel directly at 509-783-0611 and ask for the group rate for the Air Race Classic.
TRANSPORTATION:
The Red Lion is about nine miles from the Tri-Cities Airport. We have arranged for drivers to transport you between the airport and hotel. The Red Lion also provides free shuttle service between the airport and the hotel, but you will need to tell them you are on the General Aviation side of the airport. If you need transportation, call our transportation coordinator, Fay Gregory at 337-281-1008.
CAR RENTALS:
Enterprise is offering a special rate of $28 a day plus tax for an economy car or $33 a day plus tax for a mid-size car. If you wish to reserve a car from Enterprise, call 509-547-3310 and tell them you are with the Air Race Classic. These rates are not available online. Cars must be picked up at the Tri-Cities Terminal Building. We will provide transportation to the commercial side of the airport so you can pick up your car. Other car rental agencies in the Tri-Cities are Budget, Hertz, Alamo, and National. Hotwire.com and Cars.com are other sources for car rental bargains.
FBO:
Bergstrom Aircraft, Inc. will be our host FBO. They offer full service for your mechanical, fuel, oxygen refill, and pilot supply needs. Please be sure to make fueling arrangements for your departure morning top-off. There are no tie-down fees. HOSPITALITY:
As you arrive, you will be greeted by volunteers who will guide you to parking, help with orientation, and assist with your luggage. A quick refreshment will be available at the airport, then we will gladly transport you to the hotel or your waiting rental car. At the Kennewick Red Lion you will find a hospitality suite with snacks, the latest notification on updates or schedule changes, and a place to relax and visit with the other racers.
